If you use Campfire and own a Mac you'll have heard of Pyro. For those that haven't, it's a very light-weight app that allows you to stay logged into your Campfire account and be notified of new messages via the icon on the Dock. The app itself wraps around the Campfire web app allowing you to use Campfire from within Pyro.

Whenever I'm away from the Mac (like now) I miss Pyro more than any other app.

I decided to build a very basic version of Pyro - it doesn't do any of the cool stuff Pyro does yet, but it does allow me to keep Campfire open and be notified of new messages in my open room and switch between rooms quickly too.

Here's the feature list so far:

• Keep Campfire running hidden in the background


• Quickly switch between open rooms using Ctrl + the room number


• Be notified of new messages with a preview

You'll need .Net 2 - which you can get here.

Once you've got .Net 2 - you can download the app from here.

2. Click here to download and install Campfire Win

Update: You can now have multiple instances of Campfire Win open - this means you can be in as many rooms as you like at once. I've found this useful for keeping an eye on the SiteVista support room while also getting a general idea of the conversation in other rooms. The notifications will let you know which room the message came from in their title:

The Campfire Win app, from here you can use Campfire exactly as if it were in your browser, but minimise it to the tray in between chats and be notified of new messages.
