Carphone Warehouse Buys AOL UK for £370M

My last employer before I decided to go freelance have bought AOL UK aquiring its 2.1 million customers.

From the early reports it seems Carphone are not planning to rebrand AOL UK after the takeover in Dec 2006, and AOL will continue to provide AOL services to the customers in a revenue sharing scheme between AOL and Carphone.

Carphone Warehouse were a fantastic company to work for and I'm sure this will work out very well for them. They've taken quite a beating with their TalkTalk 'free' broadband offer because their IT and support centres failed to scale to meet the demand for the new service.
