BarCampSheffield

I've been at BarCampSheffield this weekend and it's been a lot of fun!

Within the first 2 hours I'd learnt more from casual conversations with people than I learnt during the whole 3 days at MIX07.

We saw demos from some great other applications - MeeCard and aFeeda in particular stood out.

I gave a ThinkFold demo as well, it went really well - I had 4 people from the audience come up and enter their email addresses to share the outline I'd used to build the presentation.
The feedback was fantastic, plenty of stuff we'd not thought of yet and some great tips on how to improve it further.

Thanks to everyone that participated in the demo, people had some very nice and constructive things to say about ThinkFold inside the outline:

"This is very clever, seriously impressed"
"Awesome."

We also had some great questions:

How long did it take to code this?
Around 15 weeks of development spread over a year.

Will you integrate this with any third party sites?
Yes and no - we want to create the platform for people to do that, primarily consuming other products' APIs within a ThinkFold document, but later sending data directly into 3rd party services.
I expect I'll get stuck in and build a few basic ThinkFold plugins myself, stuff like a google define plugin and an 'outline a page' plugin - but more importantly we want anyone to be able to create one that works with their service.

Thanks again to everyone that voted for ThinkFold in the 'Best Web App' competition as well! (We came 2nd - the MeeCard guys just beat us to it ;-)

Hey Matt,

Cheers for the comments. I loved ThinkFold and I'd like to talk with you (and the team) further about it. I could see us getting a lot of benefit by integrating an application like yours on top of our systems. Mash it up ;)

I think the MeeCards link is bad, and since they beat out your app (which looks very smooth), I was rather curious. Regardless...about ThinkFold, I didn't want to go through testing as I was (pretty) sure I wouldn't be using it, but have you thought about getting "The Mindmapping Webblog" to review ThinkFold? Although ThinkFold is a bit different than MindMapping, I believe its purpose is extremely similar.

Just to step in - thank you Brendon for being alert; but I suspect it was an innocent mistake. The Meecard/ Meecards thing seems to be causing a little confusion - our designer originally thought it was Meecards and I've just realised that has slipped into our signup page's title. For the record, Brendon is correct, it is 'Meecard'.

Anyway, names aside I wanted to congratulate Matt. I believe he actually moved the product forward quite a bit over that weekend; and I appreciated the Javascript wizardry at work. Productivity/brain-storming problems interest me, (I authored the GTDInbox Firefox extension), and will be interested to see if this works for us. We use a wiki and structure can definitely become an issue.

Whoops! Thanks Brendon - I've fixed the MeeCard link and renamed "MeeCards" to "MeeCard" (sorry! Certainly not intentional - I actually had the MeeCard site open in the background, I must have just glanced at the window and seen the title ("MeeCards") - sorry!)

Thanks Andy :-) Congratulations again for MeeCard! It's a fantastic service which I know will do well - plus, despite some last minute problems, you still managed a killer presentation :)

@Brendon:

Thanks for spotting that mistake, also thanks for the link - I'm going to get in touch with them and see if they'd like a beta account to try it out. It'd be great to get their feedback.

You should sign up for the beta anyway - you never know, you might get hooked into outlining (I only heard of it just over a year ago)
