Query:
I couldn't find a feedback area/contact so I hope you can forward this
on for me.

I've used UKReg for years now and I've got to say that I'm not enjoying
the recent changes to the domain searching system. 'similar domains' is
a nice feature but it should *never* occupy the primary focus of the
results page. I've found that if I omit the '.com' from my search I
never get the results I expected. Including the '.com' when searching
produces much better results (if I search for a particular domain I want
to see all the available options for that exact word).

I decided to say something because I recently saw (on a mailing list) a
UKReg user say they wouldn't be using the service anymore because the
search facility was "practically unusable".

Hope you find this useful.

Thanks for an (otherwise) great service ;)

Note the 33 day wait for this response.

Call me crazy, but I've a funny feeling my feedback has been ignored.

Hmm yes, I'm sure you're right. If I were you, I'd amend the title of your post to include the term "UKreg", then hopefully others will find out about the level of service before signing up!

That was one of the first things I noticed...the 33 day delay. Considering such a canned response, you'd think the reply would have come sooner. Whether your opinion was heard and not ignored, considering the example of time delay in responding to such a simple email...well, I wouldn't keep my hopes up.

I had a similar response when emailing them about exactly the same point, I'm glad you mentioned it too. After using UKReg for about three years, to see such an obtrusive change in the search tool is very annoying.

Funny you guys should mention this, I find the new changes all rather cynical. UK Reg had a beautifully simple system previously, they hav ejust gone nd spammed it all up. They seem to be having some major security problems at the moment also. Got an eamil to say there system had been hacked and to change all passwords. There really is something to be said for keeping things simple when it comes to websites and not least security!

My gripe with UKreg is as follows...

They appear to have changed all passwords to a random sequence. I know because I have two accounts, on of which I've managed to get in to finally, the other I'm still trying to access my own domain names - see below...

Their online password retrieval system just doesn't work. Fill it out as many times as you like, but 24 hours later and I still haven't received an email.

So you would assume that you can phone them... On an 0870 number (which is clearly making them money), I tried yesterday and it took 15 minutes to move from position 58 to position 49 in the queue. I worked out I would need to be on hold for another 1 hour 45 minutes at 0870 rates just to get through. Tried again this morning and it's taken me 10 minutes to get from position 32 to 31!

I'm considering reporting them to Ofcom. They're clearly making a lot of money out of keeping customers in need of support on hold!!!

Oh, and I'll be taking my business elsewhere in future!

Advice to anyone : AVOID UKREG LIKE THE PLAGUE! They're cheap for a reason.

Same gripe as DF. Their Tech Support stinks. At the mo cannot even log on to change important settings. No way am I phoning and boosting their profits from my phone bill. They have become a PITA.

Struggling with UKReg myself, are you guys able to recommend a better hosting site. Many thanks, M

My complaint is simple. During the security problem last year and i thought id try to contact them in the middle of the night after numberous failed attempts during the day. I was no. 3 in line. Fanastic i thought. 4 hours later my phone was answered.... they made lots of money from me that night...... and all the others who need their assistance. Funnily enought you can get straight through to sales!

UKreg offered the opportunity of hiding domain ownership details etc 6 odd months ago. They also have it in there control panel the possibility allowing you to update the domain ownership name etc. This has not worked since they started charing the $4 to hide your detials. UKreg in my books is miss selling as they sell you a domain name but there control panel does not work, even though they are aware the control panel does not work they do not highlight this. I have near 100 domain names there and all ukreg can offer is me to send all details by email as to how i want each domain ownship to appear, This would leave me open to mistakes etc. If you are considering using UKreg think again.
